For many riders, the answer is yes. The MX5 offers a strong combination of stock performance and relatively manageable size, especially for someone who wants more than an entry-level e-moto but doesn’t want the weight and dimensions of a Sur Ron Ultra Bee-class motorcycle. The useful way to evaluate MX5 reliability is by system. The battery and controller need to communicate correctly, the motor needs to manage heat and load, the gearbox needs appropriate lubrication, and the mechanical chassis still contains bearings, seals, brakes, wheels, suspension components, fasteners, chain, and sprockets that experience normal wear.

In other words, the absence of a gasoline engine simplifies some maintenance. It doesn’t make the rest of the motorcycle indestructible.
